Luxury Meets Sustainability: Saxon Spa at Steyn City

There’s something magical about Steyn City. The feeling you get when you’re surrounded by wide open spaces, endless greenery, and the soft sound of water trickling through streams and waterfalls. It’s a lifestyle estate, yes, but it feels more like a sanctuary. So, it’s no surprise that nestled right in the heart of this green belt paradise, overlooking landscaped gardens and tranquil walkways, is a place that redefines what luxury wellness can be: the brand-new Saxon Spa.

A journey that starts the moment you step through the doors.

From the moment I walked in, I felt held. Not just by the warmth of the staff, but by the space itself. The entire spa is intentionally designed to mirror nature. Curved, flowing walls that make you feel like you’re at one with nature and a palette of soft greens and earthy whites that grounds you instantly. There’s a calm here that can’t be staged.

The attention to detail truly took my breath away. Every material chosen with meaning. The bespoke mosaic tiles lining the vitality pool? Locally crafted. The glowing chandeliers? Made from recycled glass. Each one designed by the talented Stephen Pikus using upcycled materials, adding a quiet sparkle without costing the planet. Even the curves in the architecture soften your experience. There are no harsh lines here, only fluidity, light, and intentional rest. This serene space spans over 1,400 square meters and two floors, but it never feels clinical or overwhelming. Crystals scattered throughout add to the warmth and it feels personal, thoughtful, alive.

My spa journey started with the Hot Stone Aromatherapy massage that quite literally unknotted my week. The session begins with some mindful meditation breathing as you relax into your treatment. Then came the flotation chamber, weightless and completely restorative, they say 15 minutes in this salt water is equivalent to 4 hours sleep. While you are there you must try the vibracoustic wellness lounge (yes, that’s a real thing, where vibration and sound therapy soothe you from the inside out). You can take a look at my video here.

And then came water: the heated pool, steam room, sauna, and finally, the rooftop cold plunge pool with a view to make that icy dip a little easier. Trust me, it’s the exhale you didn’t know you needed.

There’s also a fresh juice bar, relaxation rooms, a mindfulness deck, and quiet zones to just be. Which is what I did. For four hours. Without once checking my notifications. When you’re in a place that’s been created with this much intention, sustainability, and soul, the noise outside kind of just fades.

If you’re craving a reset, not just for your body, but for your spirit – this is your place.
Book the treatment. Take the day. And whatever you do, leave your phone in the locker.
