There is nothing better than African Summers. The long, hot days, filled with water play, entertaining and braai’s. The evening thunder storms that typically end of a highveld day with magical electric fireworks. Its what we live for!
This year I have had one thing “looming” over my holiday plans. I have been meaning to take my boys for swimming lessions the whole year and just havent gotten around to it. My eldest (4) went for lessons at the age of 1, so he is a lot more “water confident” than his brother (2). Last summer he was swimming quite confidently with his cousins during the holidays, but with Johannesburg’s long winter and not having a “heated” pool, he seems to have lost a bit of that confidence.
Spurt Swimwear came to the rescue and sent the boys the cutest range of swimwear accesorries to reignite their love for the water. They couldnt resist the adorable “sharky” swim cap and wore their goggles as “racing glasses” all around the house (it was freezing the day we got them). We finally had an “excuse” to jump back in the water.
Spurt are the leading suppliers of swimming apparel and accessories in Southern Africa, I remember using the caps when I used to swim for my team in high school. Their range for kids is endless, with a selection of over 25 printed swimming caps with designs ranging from sharks, to fish, kitty’s and penguins you are really spoilt for choice. You can also purchase accessories such as nose clips, kick boards and noodles, to help little learners gain their confidence in the pool. Shop their online store here or follow them on Facebook at Spurt_SA or Instagram at Spurt_SA. The fun caps and colourful designs got the boys so excited to jump in the water again and they were thrilled when mummy put hers on too and showed them how to “see” under water.
Water confidence is so important with children and we all know how crucial it is to water safety. Im so grateful that Spurt helped to get my boys comfortable in the water again, just in time for the summer holidays!
I will be doing a giveway this week through my In these Stilettos facebook page. You can stand a chance to win a fantastic summer swimming hamper worth over R400! Consisting of a silicone swimming cap, silver anti-fog goggles and nose clips, its perfect for the holidays !
Id love to hear, what age were your children swimming confidently?
